Pre-Order
Pasture-Raised Chicken
Thank you for considering chickens raised right here on our small family farm in Saskatchewan. Like our beef, these birds will be raised using holistic methods: no antibiotics, no hormones, no steroids, moved regularly to fresh pasture for natural foraging, low-stress handling, and feeds focused on non-GMO feed and non sprayed as much as possible to support their health and the land's health.
We're planning this year's flock based on real commitments from families like your. By pre-committing here, you help us decide exactly how many chicks to order and raise—no more guesswork, less waste, and birds that go only to people who value them.
Key Details You Should Know Upfront:
Birds will be ready for processing this summer.
We aim for whole roasting chickens around 4–6 lbs dressed weight (typical for pasture-raised broilers; exact size varies with breed, forage, and weather).
Processing happens humanely and cleanly as possible. We handle as much as possible ourselves or with trusted help.
Butchering help option: If you're able and willing to assist with processing (e.g., helping scald, pluck, eviscerate, or package on the day), it keeps costs down for everyone and lets you see firsthand how the birds are treated from field to freezer. Many folks find it rewarding and educational. If you select "Yes" below, we'll follow up about available dates.
If no help: There's an added fee of $7.50 per bird to help cover butchering labor costs. This is standard for small farms—industrial chicken gets subsidies and scale we don't have.
Price per bird will be finalized later this year once feed and chick costs are locked in, but committing now locks in your spot and estimated quantity. Price should end up between $4..50-5.50 per lb dressed.
All birds will be bagged and frozen unless fresh pickup is arranged (limited spots).
Pickup/delivery options will be in Saskatoon & area, just like our beef.
This is a true pre-commitment, not a firm purchase yet—we'll confirm totals, pricing, and final details with you before any payment or chick orders go forward. If plans change significantly (weather, feed costs, flock health), we'll communicate openly and work with you.
Fill out the quick form Above to let us know your interest. The more clear commitments we get, the better we can plan a healthy, happy flock that nourishes our community.
